The daughter of U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has slammed the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as "unconventional" following a recent airport experience

Evita Duffy-Alfonso, who is pregnant, claimed that she was subject to an "invasive" pat-down by the agency and almost missed her flight after she refused to go through the agency's body-scanner

The 26-year-old has called on President Donald Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to "abolish" the TSA

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s pregnant daughter, Evita Duffy-Alfonso, has slammed the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which sits under the Department of Homeland Security, fcand claimed she was subject to an 'absurdly invasive' pat-down after she refused to go through an airport body-scanner.

In a post shared on X on Thursday, Dec. 18, Evita — one of nine children that Duffy shares with his wife, Rachel Campos-Duffy — claimed that she'd almost missed her flight that morning after being made to wait to undergo additional security measures.

Evita, 26, wrote, "I nearly missed my flight this morning after the TSA made me wait 15 minutes for a pat-down because I’m pregnant and didn’t feel like getting radiation exposure from their body scanner."

"The agents were passive-aggressive, rude, and tried to pressure me and another pregnant woman into just walking through the scanner because it’s 'safe.' After finally getting the absurdly invasive pat-down, I barely made my flight," she added.

According to the TSA, "All screening equipment at the airport security checkpoint is safe for all travelers, including women who are pregnant."

The agency states on its website that it "uses millimeter wave advanced imaging technology (AIT) and walk-through metal detectors to screen passengers," adding, "Millimeter wave advanced imaging technology safely screens passengers without physical contact for metallic and non-metallic threats, including weapons and explosives, which may be concealed under clothing."

The site points out that, "Generally, passengers undergoing screening will have the opportunity to decline AIT screening in favor of physical screening," but some passengers will be "selected for enhanced screening, in accordance with TSA regulations."

Evita continued in her X post, "All this for an unconstitutional agency that isn’t even good at its job. Perhaps things would have gone more smoothly if I’d handed over my biometric data to a random private company (CLEAR)," referring to the identity verification platform.

"Then I could enjoy the special privilege of waiting in a shorter line to be treated like a terrorist in my own country," she went on, referring to the TSA's screenings.

"Is this freedom? Travel, brought to you by George Orwell—and the privilege of convenience based solely on your willingness to surrender biometric data and submit to radiation exposure?" Evita added, referencing Orwell, the author behind the dystopian speculative fiction novel, 1984, which has a focus on mass surveillance.

Evita then referenced the Department of Transportation's (DOT) new “Golden Age of Travel” campaign, writing, "The 'golden age of transportation' cannot begin until the TSA is gone."

A TSA spokesperson said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE, “We are aware of the incident in question. TSA takes complaints about airport security screening procedures seriously and investigates complaints thoroughly to ensure the correct procedures are applied.”

In a separate post, Evita called on President Donald Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to "abolish" the TSA.

"TSA = unreasonable, warrantless searches of passengers and their property. That means it violates the Fourth Amendment and is therefore unconstitutional. Pls abolish @realDonaldTrump @Sec_Noem," Evita added.

She then went on to reply to multiple social media users, with some highlighting her link to transportation secretary Duffy. The 54-year-old was sworn into the role on Jan. 28, 2025.

In one post, Evita pointed out the TSA is run by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), not the DOT, calling the TSA "a violation of the Fourth Amendment."

In a further X message, she then said that she was "100 percent behind" all that Trump and the DHS had done "to keep out terrorists and illegals," but added, "There needs to be more common sense around how we treat Americans exercising their right to travel. And I hope TSA works on improving their treatment of expectant mothers who don’t want to go through body scanners to protect their unborn children. We can do both."

Evita's husband, Michael Alfonso, is running for Congress in Wisconsin’s 7th District, a seat which was previously held by his father-in-law, Duffy.

The Department of Transportation did not immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE for comment about Evita's social media posts.
