Tina Knowles became emotional seeing Beyoncé and Blue Ivy at the 2026 Met Gala, calling it a "déjà vu" moment

Blue Ivy, 14, broke the Met Gala's age restriction to attend with her parents, Beyoncé and Jay-Z

Gotta be havin' déjà vu!

Tina Knowles opened up about the emotional experience of seeing her daughter Beyoncé and her granddaughter Blue Ivy Carter walk the 2026 Met Gala carpet on May 4 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

“I got really emotional, shed a few tears,” Knowles admitted during an appearance on the 3rd Hour of Today on Tuesday, May 5.

The moment had a special significance for the family matriarch, who helped outfit her daughter and her Destiny's Child bandmates with her House of Dereon fashion line in their early career.

“It was kind of reminiscent,” Tina explained. “BeyoncĂ© started her first red carpet at 15, and Blue is 14, so just seeing her out there looking confident and beautiful. It was dĂ©jĂ  vu.”

Beyoncé served as a Met Gala co-chair this year, which marked her return to the fashion fundraiser after a decade. Perhaps for that reason, Blue Ivy was allowed to attend the event, breaking the traditional age restriction of 18. She was joined by her mom and dad, Jay-Z, on the carpet.

The pre-teen, who serves as one of her mom's principal backup dancers on tour, rocked a white, strapless Balenciaga gown, which she paired with a white, unzipped matching jacket, shades and stunning crystal Jimmy Choos, which matched her mom's dress.

Queen Bey shut the carpet down with her dazzling Olivier Rousteing-designed naked gown covered in crystals in a skeleton motif, down to the hands. She paired it with an enormous dusty blue and white feathered cape, crystal-embellished headpiece and hundreds of carats of Chopard diamonds.

Despite speculation that the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer would use the Met Gala to announce her highly anticipated Act III, she kept quiet about any new music.

Tina followed suit during her interview on Tuesday, joking of Act III, “I said before, I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you.”
