Taylor Swift made a $50,000 donation to a Connecticut nursing assistant after she faced severe injuries when she saved a teenager from a car accident.

On July 18, Ashley Taunton, 42, was traveling on I-95, the longest north–south Interstate, in Rhode Island, when she spotted teenagers whose vehicle had hydroplaned in a torrential storm. As the rain pounded down, Taunton, whose daughter accompanied her, stopped to help out the group. However, as she was assisting the teenagers, another car lost control and hydroplaned. As the car skidded towards the group, Taunton pushed one of the teenagers out of the way, resulting in her being injured by the car.

In the wake of her injuries, Taunton has undergone multiple surgeries and faces a “a very long and difficult road” to recovery. Her family opened a GoFundMe, later receiving an impressive $50,000 donation from Swift, 36, who wrote, “Wishing you the best recovery possible and sending love to your family! Taylor.” This comes as Swift is rumored to be releasing "three new albums" within the next four years.

Taunton’s GoFundMe, started by a friend of the family, has raised over $73,000 – roughly two-thirds of the goal of $110,000. The donations will go towards “daily household bills and expenses, gas and travel costs for commuting back and forth to the hospital, meals and groceries for the kids [and] medical expenses not covered by insurance.” Taunton and her husband, Joe, share three children.

Joe described his wife’s heroic act as “Ashley doing Ashley things." Laura Ortfelt, who launched the GoFundMe, thanked donors in advance for their “love, prayers, and generosity.”

Taunton responded to Swift's donation via an Instagram story. “How can this be real? Thank you! I'm speechless. Taylor Swift, you are an incredible human being,” she posted.

“Sobbing with so much gratitude! Wish I could hug you IRL what a beautiful human you are! God bless you!” she added.

Since Swift’s contribution, Taunton’s GoFundMe has received a flood of $13 donations, suggesting a nod to the pop star’s signature number. “Oh taygenerous,” wrote one fan in response to the news.

Swift and her husband, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, recently donated roughly $26 million to various United States charities. The charities are spread across the country, with a focus on the states that have played major roles in the couple’s lives such as New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Missouri.

Among the charities to receive donations from the high-profile couple was the late Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a “book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth until they begin school in participating areas.” Other charities include the ASPCA, Education Through Music and several organizations focused on providing accessible and free food to those in need.
