Tate McRae and Ludovic de Saint Sernin proved to be quite the perfect pairing at this year’s Met Gala.

Their winning streak began when the “Revolving Door” singer hit the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a gold-lace mermaid dress that was inspired by the gilded statues that adorn La Réale, a ceremonial boat that once belonged to Louis XIV (which is still preserved today at the Musée national de la Marine de Paris).

The gown was a body-hugging design that featured boning along the bodice and tiers of cascading ruffles forming the skirt, while the sweetheart neckline was crafted from hand-applied feathers that gave it a mythical touch.

It was a look so good that McRae clearly wanted to repeat the magic, because when the Grammy nominee made her way to the Saint Laurent after-party hosted at People’s Bar later that night, she switched into a slipdress that was like a going-out variation of her red-carpet fit.

Also courtesy of Ludovic de Saint Sernin, this dress was like a slinky chemise that appeared to be made out of a similar floral gold lace, but was even more sheer—leaving little to the imagination. The sheath was held up by two skinny spaghetti straps, while the neckline was embroidered with opaque golden cups. Finally, there was subtle boning along the torso, while the bottom hem was cut with raw, scalloped edges.

McRae completed her look by slipping into some PVC Metropolis sandals from Gianvito Rossi, while popping on some Gentle Monster sunglasses and a pendant necklace shaped like a perfume bottle. She was seen holding hands with fellow pop star Rosé as they made their way to the after-party together.

With naked dressing still all the rage these days, it was nice to see McRae switch things up. Plus, we love a late-night surprise.
