Suspicious devices reported near NYC mayor home; 2 people in custody

NEW YORK − Two people are in custody after reports of suspicious devices near Gracie Mansion, the official residence of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, police said March 7.
New York City police officers were on scene for a scheduled demonstration near East End Avenue and 88th Street, near the mayor’s mansion, NYPD said in a statement. At around 11:40 a.m., officers were alerted to two suspicious devices in the area. Police said neither no injuries or property damage have been reported at this time.
Two people of interest have been taken into custody as the investigation is ongoing, NYPD said. Police haven't identified who was taken into custody.

At the time, pardoned Jan. 6 rioter Jake Lang, a conservative influencer, had planned a demonstration taking place outside of Gracie Mansion.

A spokesperson for Mamdani referred questions to NYPD.
