Staples partners with Party City to expand services for celebrations

Once an emporium of Mylar balloons, plastic tablecloths, and Mardi Gras beads, Party City is making a comeback in Massachusetts and across the country – inside a familiar office supply store.
Party City, which filed for bankruptcy twice and closed its brick-and-mortar locations, is now operating inside more than 700 Staples stores nationwide — including those in Cambridge, Plymouth, and Somerville — according to an April 21 press release. This means customers can now buy party supplies and personalized signs, invitations, and banners all under one roof, Staples and Party City said.
Among the aisles of printer paper, swivel chairs, and pencil cases, shoppers will find a section with tanks of helium and a wall of colorful balloon options.
Under a new partnership, there are Party City locations within more than 700 Staples stores across the U.S., the companies said.
"By bringing Party City into Staples stores, we're expanding what customers can accomplish in one place – combining helium balloons and party supplies with our print and marketing services to offer a complete solution for celebrations, from graduations to grand openings and everything in between," Marshall Warkentin, president of Staples' U.S. retail, said in a statement.

More Staples locations are slated to add Party City sections by the end of the year, according to the release.
Customers can also find Party City on Staples.com. Soon, the Staples website and app will have a page to schedule balloon pickups, the companies said.
