Penélope Cruz says her kids now think she's cool after meeting Bad Bunny at his Puerto Rico concert

Cruz has attended five shows on Bad Bunny's international tour, including his residency opening with her family

The actress joked about initially resisting Bad Bunny's mature lyrics but became a fan herself over time

Penélope Cruz is thanking Bad Bunny for helping her kids "finally" think she's cool.

Cruz, 52, opened up about meeting the DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS artistin a new interview with Sean Evans on Hot Ones on Thursday, July 2.

"What makes taking your kids to a Bad Bunny concert a parenting hack of the highest order?" Evans asked the Vicky Cristina Barcelona actress.

Cruz explained that her two children, son Leo, 15, and daughter Luna, 12, who she shares with husband Javier Bardem, introduced her to the Grammy winner's music.

"So, I was like, 'These lyrics are not for you,'" the actress joked of some of Bad Bunny's mature lyrical content. "You know, we were trying to fight that for a while, but then I was like non-stop listening by myself."

She shared that the family went to the opening of Bad Bunny's residency in his native Puerto Rico, and has since been to five shows on his current international tour.

"But the first one in Puerto Rico is when Benito came to me and asked me to go with him to say the 'Acho, PR es otra cosa,'" Cruz said of the opening line of the musician's song "VOY A LLeVARTE PA PR."

"And finally my kids came to me and said, 'Mom, finally you we can say you are cool,'" Cruz added as Evans laughed.

"Thank you Benito! It took me all these years," she joked.

Cruz and Bardem, 57, tied the knot in 2010, and she has previously opened up about the couple's parenting style.

"It's so easy to be manipulated, especially if you have a brain that is still forming," she told Elle in 2024 of why her kids do not have cell phones.

"And who pays the price? Not us, not our generation, who, maybe at 25, learned how a BlackBerry worked," Cruz continued at the time. "It's a cruel experiment on children, on teenagers.”

Bad Bunny rose to new heights of international recognition with his sixth solo studio album, a love letter to his native Puerto Rico, brimming with references to the Caribbean island's flora, fauna, and cultural traditions. The noteworthy album earned him three 2026 Grammys — for Album of the Year, Best Música Urbana, and Best Global Music Performance.

Shortly after his Grammys sweep, he took the stage to headline the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show in February.

The Puerto Rican musician is currently on his DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS World Tour, and will next play the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, France, near Paris, on Saturday, July 4.
