Carys Douglas has officially made her professional stage debut!

The 23-year-old daughter of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones starred in a production of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull, a classic play that follows a group of artists, writers, and performers tangled in love, ambition, and creative frustration as they confront the gap between their artistic dreams and real life, with Carys playing the lead role of Nina.

Written in 1895 and later revived on Broadway in 1916, The Seagull is one of Chekhov's most influential works, known for its layered characters and quiet emotional tension rather than traditional plot-driven drama. The limited-run engagement is produced by theater company Solid Flesh at St. Lydia's, a queer-affirming dinner church, in Brooklyn. Carys' casting was announced in May.

“A beautifully produced performance with a talented cast. ❤️ Wishing Carys Douglas and the entire The Seagull team continued success and sold-out shows ahead. 🎭👏," an Instagram user captioned an Instagram Reel featuring footage from a performance.

In the video, Carys is seen inside the small restaurant space of Dinner Church & Waffle Church, dressed in all black with a long-sleeve shirt and pants, her hair styled in a messy bun. At the end of the performance, she takes a bow alongside her seven fellow cast members, before later being seen signing playbills for audience members.

Carys also shared some photos and special moments of her time in the production on Instagram on Wednesday, July 1.

“The Seagull 🪿🤍 what a lovely time this was  @solidfleshcompany @connorwrubel !!!” she wrote in the carousel caption.

The project marks a major milestone for Carys, who has previously shared her interest in pursuing a career in entertainment. Speaking at the PAC NYC Icons of Culture Gala in October 2025, she reflected on her background in the arts and her future plans.

“I grew up doing theater, and I didn't study acting in school, but that's why I'm happy to be in such an informative arts space, so hopefully more of that,” Carys previously told PEOPLE.

Carys graduated from Brown University with a degree in film and international relations, and has been steadily building toward a career in the industry while drawing inspiration from her parents' work.

Douglas, 81, and Zeta-Jones, 56, have been married since 2000 and share two children, Carys and Dylan, 25. Douglas is also father to Cameron, 47, from his previous marriage to Diandra Luker.

Carys' brother Dylan is also active in the entertainment world, having made his acting and producing debut in the short film I Will Come to You opposite Peter Facinelli.

The Seagull's limited engagement ran from June 20–27.
