Megan Skiendiel ‘Heartbroken’ to Cancel KATSEYE’s Festival Appearance After Spraining Ankle During Rehearsal

KATSEYE has canceled their Aug. 29 performance at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival after Megan Skiendiel sprained her ankle during tour rehearsal

Doctors advised Skiendiel to stay off the injury and let it heal ahead of the group’s upcoming WILD WORLD Tour

The cancellation comes after a busy month of performances for KATSEYE, including appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the TODAY Show and at Disney’s D23: The Ultimate Fan Event

KATSEYE won’t be taking the stage at Daisy Chain Fields this weekend after Megan Skiendiel sprained her ankle during tour rehearsal.

On Thursday, Aug. 27, the global girl group announced that it will no longer perform at Olivia Rodrigo‘s Daisy Chain Fields festival after Skiendiel, 20, sprained her ankle during tour rehearsal. According to KATSEYE, Skiendiel was evaluated by doctors after the injury and advised to stay off her ankle and allow it to properly heal ahead of the group’s upcoming tour.

“We’re so incredibly sorry to share that we are unable to perform at Daisy Chain Fields this Saturday. Megan sprained her ankle yesterday during tour rehearsal and after being evaluated by doctors, she has been advised to stay off it and allow it to properly heal so we can be ready for our upcoming tour,” KATSEYE World shared in a statement.

The cancellation is particularly disappointing for the group, which said it had been looking forward to Daisy Chain Fields not just as another performance, but because of the larger mission of the festival’s all-female music lineup.

“We know how much our fans were looking forward to seeing us, and it breaks our hearts to disappoint anyone who made plans to be there,” the group said. “We were especially excited for Daisy Chain Fields because it’s not just about music, but the greater mission of joy and community.”

Skiendiel, 22, also shared a message about the cancellation, saying she was “heartbroken” to miss the festival.

“I’m heartbroken to miss Daisy Chain Fields, especially because of everything this festival stands for,” she wrote on her Instagram story.

Daisy Chain Fields confirmed the news on Instagram, writing that Skiendiel is recovering from a sprained ankle and wishing her “a smooth and speedy recovery.” The festival has since added Devon Again to its 2026 lineup.

KATSEYE had been scheduled to perform on the Dandelion Stage at 2:15 p.m., between sets from Santigold and Mitski. Following the cancellation, the festival released an schedule with Santigold moving into the slot previously held by KATSEYE.

The setback comes as KATSEYE has been on a particularly busy performance run.

Earlier this month, the group made its official late-night television performance debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where the members performed “Animal.” Two days later, they brought their music to the TODAY Show Concert Series in New York City, performing “Hootie Frutti” and “Animal” for fans gathered at the TODAY Plaza.

The group also hosted Spotify’s KLUB KATSEYE promotional event in August, where they performed “Gnarly” and gave “That Way” its live debut. On Aug. 16, KATSEYE made a surprise appearance at Disney’s D23 Legends Ceremony, performing “I Won’t Say (I’m in Love)” from Hercules as a tribute to Susan Egan.

Now, the group is preparing to take that momentum on the road. KATSEYE recently earned its first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with WILD, and the group is set to release its upcoming EP of the same name ahead of The WILD WORLD Tour.

The tour kicks off in Dublin on Sept. 1, with KATSEYE scheduled to perform across the U.K. and Europe through mid-September before beginning an 18-city North American leg Oct. 13 in Miami. It remains unclear whether Skiendiel’s injury will affect any of the group’s upcoming tour dates.

The festival cancellation also comes during a year of significant changes for KATSEYE, as the group has also had to navigate absences from its six-member lineup.

Manon Bannerman began a temporary hiatus in February to focus on her health and well-being. Then, on Aug. 7, Sophia Laforteza announced that she was taking a temporary break to focus on her mental health and wellness following medical advice.

Despite the changes, the members have continued to emphasize the importance of supporting one another. While appearing on Celebrity Substitute earlier this month, KATSEYE members spoke about the challenges of performing as part of a group and how they’ve learned to rely on each other when things get difficult.

“I think when we first started, we’d get nervous a lot. Like, our first performances going on stage. It can be really scary, but then I think we learned to help each other. We give each other hugs before we perform,” Lara Raj said.

For now, Skiendiel will have to sit out Daisy Chain Fields as she recovers. But she made it clear that she’s already looking ahead to getting back onstage with the group.

“We’re sending all our love to Olivia and to all of the incredible artists, non-profit organizations and volunteers who have given their time to make this day so special,” KATSEYE said. “It’s going to be such an amazing day, and we can’t wait to see everyone out on tour.”

The all-women festival is set for Aug. 29, at Great Park in Irvine, California.
