London hosted the film’s first premiere on Wednesday, Aug. 26, and the event not only served as a cast reunion, but also as a bewitching showcase of fashion from the Owens sisters, Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, and the sequel’s new stars Joey King and Maisie Williams.
One of the bigger moments to come from the night came courtesy of Williams, 29, who like King, 27, plays Bullock’s on-screen daughter, and who leaned into the role in a red carpet look directly inspired by the Oscar winner’s style.

The 28-year-old Game of Thrones alum chose to wear a custom burgundy dress by British designer Ellie Misner that bore a resemblance to the two-piece ensemble Bullock, 62, wore to the 1999 premiere of Forces of Nature.
Similar to Bullock’s vintage outfit, which included a T-shirt and skirt, Williams’ bespoke dress was done with a boat neckline and floor-length skirt with a train. She also wore a ring and choker necklace adorned with a ruby-like stone.
The nostalgic references didn’t stop at the premiere though.

On Thursday, Aug. 27, the Practical Magic 2 cast arrived for a photo-call in coordinating black looks, with Williams taking a page from Bullock’s book in what appeared to be a black dress very similar to the one Bullock wore to the 2006 premiere of Infamous. Her own personal touches included a decorative brooch and layered choker necklaces.

A month before the premiere, Williams and King appeared at Teen Vogue Fest on July 25, where they teased their sartorial throwbacks on a panel hosted by Chloe Malle.
“We’ve been taking a lot of inspiration from the late ‘90s and Sandra and Nicole’s red carpet looks,” shared Williams, who plays Antonia Owens.

The pair also discussed what fans can expect from the sequel’s costumes. “It’s heavily influenced by ‘90s fashion,” said King, who plays Kylie. “There are a lot of custom pieces in this movie that are just so amazing. There’s a lot of lace, a lot of ethereal, whimsical colors.”
