The reality star required surgery for her wound

Love Island U.K. star Ella Thomas has revealed she was rushed to the hospital during her birthday celebrations after a smashed glass bottle fell on her foot, in what she described as a “freak accident.”

Ella Thomas, who starred on season 10 of the reality show, marked her 26th birthday on Sunday, May 3, by having brunch and drinks with her sister and best friend at an event they were invited to in London.

But the influencer described the event, which she did not name, as “bad vibes” in a video uploaded to her TikTok on Wednesday. She said that within 10 minutes of being there, someone smashed a bottle, with the shards of glass falling onto her foot.

“This was not a little cut, it was a massive wound and my blood was just gushing and gushing, like liters on the floor,” she said in the video. “The worst part is that there were girls literally laughing.”

An ambulance was called and Thomas ended up in the emergency room. After having an X-ray, doctors told her she needed surgery on her foot.

“I was in so much shock and panic, I wouldn't let the doctor touch my foot until he gave me this medicine,” she added.

As the video continued, the reality TV star appeared more relaxed and was filmed dancing and singing along to songs while a medic cleaned her foot. "(Was fully sober it was just from the meds 🤣)," Thomas wrote across the clip of her dancing in the hospital bed.

Thomas also uploaded a series of Instagram pictures from the infamous day on Wednesday, including one showing her dressed in a hospital gown.

She captioned the images: “Didn't think the birthday celebrations would end with a freak accident & me getting surgery on my foot😭missed the met gala for a night in the ward.. keep swiping to see the vibes after the doctor gave me the dr*gs to distract me from the pain😭😭😭.”

She also shared a video of paramedics disposing of a completely red, bloodied bandage, offering an insight into the extent of her injury.

Thomas said in another clip: “This is not how I thought I was going to end my birthday celebrations but at least the party came to the hospital with me!”

She also posted a link to her TikTok video on her Instagram Stories and wrote: “Posted what happened on my TikTok… I was not drunk at all, completely sober for people saying I can't handle my alcohol… got to the event and a smashed bottle was dropped (or thrown) on my foot 😭 blood was gushing everywhereee but people around were literally laughing. Scary out here.”

Thomas' season of Love Island U.K. aired in 2023. The star finished in third place after coupling up with Tyrique Hyde, who is now dating season 9 contestant Samie Elishi.

Her fans rushed to the comment section to wish her a speedy recovery, with one writing: “Awww hope you're ok 🥺🥺❤️❤️." Another said: “So sorry this happened ❤️‍🩹 speedy recovery ❤️ remember everything happens for a reason, there's a reason you weren't at the met!”

A third added: “Girly hope you get well sooniesss💗.”
