Kim Kardashian's 2026 Met Gala look was so delicate, it should've come with its own "fragile" sign.

The All's Fair actress, 45, returned to the star-studded event for the 13th time on Monday, May 4, wearing a custom metallic breastplate look created and conceptualized by artist Allen Jones, designer duo Whitaker Malem (Patrick Whitaker and Keir Malem) and creative director Nadia Lee Cohen.

In a behind-the-scenes video shared by Vogue, fans got a glimpse of how the reality star got ready — and just how carefully she had to navigate moving around in the dress. As seen in a snippet on TikTok, Kardashian had a wardrobe malfunction scare after thinking she nicked her outfit, which was her interpretation of the "Costume Art" theme and "Fashion Is Art" dress code.

"Did I break this?" she says while touching the cone breast mold on her outfit and reacting to a smacking sound heard in the background. "I ran into it so hard. If I broke it or chipped it...we wouldn't have had a Met look. I would've had to cancel."

Kardashian herself also posted a vlog of her Met Monday, showing her point of view of the glamorous chaos. Her glam was done by her longtime team Chris Appleton and Mario Dedivanovic.

Although the mom of four appeared to spend the rest of her night faux pas-free, she's had to handle sartorial blunders before. In 2023, she wore a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture design decked out in more than 50,000 freshwater pearls and 16,000 crystal pearls, some of which ended up breaking off by the end of the night. Later, she told Vogue how her eldest daughter North West was able to save the day. "...I told my daughter to grab them all. They're real pearls, and she was putting them in her purse."

She's also proved that, with the right outfit, attending the Met Gala can be a sport in and of itself. In a 2025 episode of The Kardashians, she admitted that she couldn't breathe in her Margiela by John Galliano corset dress worn the previous year. "I'm not as uncomfortable as I might look," she said. "It's definitely a performance piece. I mean, God bless the Bridgerton cast that has to dress like this every single day. That would be so difficult."

And in 2022, when she famously wore Marilyn Monroe's dress, she committed to undergoing a physical transformation that required her to lose 21 lbs. "It was such a challenge. It was like a [movie] role. I was determined to fit [into] it. I haven't had carbs or sugar in about three weeks. We're having pizza and donut party back at the hotel [after the Met Gala]," she told Vogue that year.
