Jill Biden Reveals Joe Biden’s Emotional Admission to Her After “Heroic” Decision to End 2024 Campaign

Jill Biden opened up about her husband, Joe Biden, dropping out of the 2024 presidential race.

“I can remember going upstairs that night and getting in bed, and I said, ‘Joe, how are you doing?’ And he grabbed my hand, and he said, ‘Jilly, I had no choice.’”

Jill added, “I thought what he did was heroic. He gave up everything.”

The former first lady shared the story during part three of her interview on the podcast, “The Jamie Kern Lima Show.”

“I can remember going upstairs that night and getting in bed, and I said, ‘Joe, how are you doing?’ And he grabbed my hand, and he said, ‘Jilly, I had no choice,’” she said in the clip posted on August 26. “So, you know, he had to step aside. I mean, that’s who Joe was.”

The View from the East Wing author also pushed back on claims that she influenced the former president’s decision.

“There was so much pressure for Joe to step down and to step aside, and he was losing the support of the Democratic Party, and Joe said to me, ‘What do you think, Jill? What do you think I should do?’ And I said, ‘No. You make this decision yourself. Whatever decision is made, you have to be able to live with it the rest of your life. I am not going to weigh in for or against.’ And I kept true to that.”

Jill continued, “Joe, I think, saw the direction that things were going and he decided to step aside. I thought what he did was heroic. He gave up everything. It was his decision.”

In another podcast interview clip posted on August 20, Jill addressed rumors about Biden’s performance during the 2024 presidential debate, where he stumbled over his words and appeared to lose his train of thought throughout the broadcast.

“I mean, there’s all kinds of theories,” she said. “He had been traveling. I know he was tired. He didn’t feel well that day when I saw him, but there was nothing definitive that I could point to.”

As for what her gut tells her about what happened at the debate that night, she still has no idea: “I can’t figure it out. That is my honest-to-God true answer. I don’t know.”
