Jelly Roll has taken a swipe at Donald Trump's "ridiculous trade war" with Canada.
The 41-year-old country music star, born Jason DeFord, is filling in as guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live! from Monday, August 24, through Thursday, August 27. During Wednesday's episode (August 26), Jelly Roll slammed the 80-year-old president and his intensifying trade dispute with America's northern neighbor during his opening monologue.
Following the collapse of trade negotiations between the two countries, Trump announced he would slap 50% tariffs on a range of Canadian imports, including agricultural products, clothing, furniture, jewelry, and hockey sticks. Those tariffs kicked in over the past weekend. Trump also threatened to pile on an additional 50% tariff aimed squarely at Canada's auto industry. The jab follows Jelly Roll's debut episode guest-hosting, where he first took aim at Trump in his opening monologue.

"The president is doubling down on his ridiculous trade war with Canada. And they're saying this could lead to higher prices for several products, including whiskey, smartphones, but most alarmingly, toilet paper," Jelly Roll said.

"It's going to be a real World War 2-Ply," he joked. "But you have to admit, there is something poetic about it being so expensive to wipe our a-- cause the president's full of s--t."

The country star then discussed how he's carrying out his "duties as a late-night comedian" by poking fun at Trump during his guest-hosting appearance. Jell Roll explained that his Trump jokes have drawn responses from people across the political spectrum, but he started to feel like Jimmy Kimmel when his comedy caught the eye of Fox News.

Watters then suggested Jelly Roll was using Ozempic and argued there should be a warning label on the diabetes medication that some have used for weight loss, claiming it heightens side effects "like irritability, depression, and trouble sleeping.
"Okay, first of all, Jesse, I'll have you know Ozempic is the only drug I haven't tried," Jelly Roll quipped, "I know it sounds unbelievable, but I lost weight the old-fashioned way: Cocaine."
The Son of Sinner artist then became serious, revealing that he "got in shape before the GLP-1 craze" and takes pride in the fact that his weight loss came "through diet and exercise."
