Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have purchased a castle in Ireland.

Built in 1830, it has around 11 bedrooms, plus a swimming pool.

The property is worth approximately $35 million.

Mark Zuckerberg is expanding his real estate portfolio. The Meta founder and his wife, Priscilla Chan, are the proud new owners of a centuries-old Irish castle.

On August 27, a representative for Zuckerberg, 42, told People that they’ve purchased Strancally Castle, which overlooks the River Blackwater in Waterford.

“Mark and his family are excited to continue caring for this historic home and look forward to spending time in Ireland, where Meta maintains its international headquarters,” said Zuckerberg’s spokesperson, Brian Baker.

Zuckerberg’s company employs 1,500 people in Ireland, Baker added, explaining that the tech executive and Chan, 41, have considered buying a home there for a while.

The Gothic estate, which was built in 1830, is worth up to $35 million, according to The Irish Times. It has approximately 11 bedrooms, as well as a swimming pool. The home was previously owned by Michael Alen-Buckley, who co-founded the private investment firm RAB Capital, and his wife Giancarla.

Speaking to The New York Times, the couple said that they’re “grateful for the opportunity [they] have been given to save and restore Strancally Castle.”

“We are delighted that Mark and his family intend to build on our stewardship by continuing to invest in maintaining and enhancing the property and grounds as their home,” they added.

Zuckerberg and Chan, who married in 2012 and share three daughters, also own multiple properties in California, Florida, and Hawaii.
