The only thing sweeter than walking the red carpet at the Met Gala together? Letting your love do her thing before discreetly heading in to the event celebrate. And that’s just what Bradley Cooper did on the first Monday in May.

A staple of the Costume Institute fundraiser, Gigi Hadid returned to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the 2026 edition of the big night—and she showed up solo. Her sister, Bella, missed the evening’s festivities. As for her boyfriend? Well, fans believed that Cooper had stayed at home, but we were wrong.

New photos reveal that the actor did join his model girlfriend at the event after all, he just did so after the carpet closed. Seen inside the museum in a black suit with a casually unbuttoned dress shirt, he appeared to have found a work-around to the “Met Gala curse.”

(The “curse” is an online theory that couples who show up to walk the Met Gala carpet together will break up the same year. Examples have included Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson; Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth; Selena Gomez and the Weeknd; and even Hadid herself with Zayn Malik. But if you don’t walk the carpet together, it doesn’t count, right??

For the “Fashion Is Art” dress code, Hadid worked with Miu Miu on a custom naked dress. The sheer sparkling piece was adorned with crystals and flame appliqués, and featured a low, open back and long dramatic train. She wore it over a pair of white panties.

For glam, she kept things simple and romantic, giving her blonde hair soft waves and adding just a touch of brown mascara to her eyes.

Cooper and Hadid have been romantically linked since October 2023 and have yet to walk the Met Gala carpet together.
