Donald Trump is lashing out at legendary filmmaker Rob Reiner, hours after the director and his wife were found dead in an apparent double homicide.
The tragic news of Reiner's death was still developing when Trump took to Truth Social on Monday morning to blast Reiner, a known Democrat who strongly opposed the Trump administration.
"A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood," Trump's post began. "Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS."
Trump continued, "[Reiner] was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!"

Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele, 68, were found dead in their Brentwood home in Los Angeles on Dec. 14. TMZ reported that their deaths are attributed to lacerations consistent with a knife. According to Los Angeles Sheriff's Department records, their son Nick has since been arrested and is being held on $4 million bail.
Reiner, who is known for helming several influential Hollywood titles throughout the '80s and '90s, was a lifelong Democrat. In 2008, he co-founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights, which challenged California’s ban on same-sex marriage. Prior to that, in 1998, he advocated for funding early childhood development services with a tax on tobacco products.

Reiner was also a vocal Trump critic, who previously accused the president of "treason" and dubbed him "mentally unfit" to serve in office. Most recently, Reiner said the political climate under the Trump administration is "beyond McCarthy era-esque."
The comments were made during the filmmaker's October interview with MSNBC, where he said, "Make no mistake: We have a year before this country becomes a full-on autocracy and democracy completely leaves us. I believe the way to stop it is to educate people who may not understand what democracy is. They may not know what the impact of losing it is. We have to explain it, us storytellers have to explain to them what they’re going to wind up with if an autocrat has his way."

Following their deaths, Reiner and his wife have been mourned by several prominent Democratic political figures, including former Vice President Kamala Harris, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, and former President Barack Obama.
In a post shared on X, Obama wrote, "Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen. But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people — and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action. Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose. They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired."
