- Demi Moore is setting the record straight about the right way to pronounce her name.
- While signing autographs, the actress corrected fans who were incorrectly calling out her name.
- The *Ghost* star previously revealed that she once had a "great conversation" with Demi Lovato about their similar names.
Demi Moore is reminding fans of the correct way to pronounce her name.
The 63-year-old recently greeted a group of fans on the streets of New York City, pausing to sign autographs and pose for a few pictures. While the actress appeared happy to oblige the crowd, she also didn't hesitate to correct the fans who incorrectly called out her name.
"Remember, it's 'Duh-mee,'" she clarified, while signing an autograph, steering them away from the typical pronunciation of "DEM-ee."
This certainly isn't the first time that Moore has made this correction. Way back in a 1988 interview with KCRA’s Harry Martin, Moore made a similar declaration to the interviewer before admitting that it doesn't typically bother her when people get it wrong, since it happens "all the time."
Asked about where the name came from, she shared, "My parents found this name, and we’re quite fond of it. I think they pulled it out of a magazine."
Though the Golden Globe-winner first broke through in the '80s and has remained in the spotlight ever since, fans are still stumbling over the right way to say her name. It certainly doesn't help that other famous Demis opt for the more common pronunciation.

Moore joked about this issue in a 2017 visit to *The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.*
“I know a couple Demi's,” the host at one point told the *I Love Boosters* actress.
“Yes, and I know Demi also,” she replied, prompting the late-night host to perk up and ask, "Demi Lovato?”

Moore teased, "I hear she’s one of your BFFs, and I felt very left out of that.”
She went on to share that she and Lovato have talked through the name discrepancy, pointing out that they are from the same region of the country — Lovato from Texas and Moore from New Mexico.

“Our families say our names the same, but we each individually pronounce it differently," Moore explained.
She said that their respective pronunciations complement their last names, adding, "Like, ‘Deh-mee Lovato’ sounds really good. And ‘Duh-mee’ Moore sounds really good. Like, Deh-mee Moore sounds kinda like, ugh."
