Adam ScottĀ revealed he quietly gave up alcohol more than a decade ago without making a dramatic production of it. TheĀ SeveranceĀ andĀ Parks and RecreationĀ star said he simply phased drinking out.
The actorās confession came during a recent podcast appearance while discussing his surprisingly low-key lifestyle. For Scott, becoming alcohol-free apparently wasnāt a grand declaration or difficult turning point.
Adam Scott reveals he quietly stopped drinking alcohol over twelve years ago
During an appearance on theĀ Therapuss podcast,Ā host Jake Shane asked Adam about his habits. The question came after Scott revealed he hadnāt been sick in roughly two years.
When Shane asked whether he drank alcohol or smoked, Scott said he did neither. Shane then suggested that might explain why the 53-year-old actor still looked so youthful, calling alcohol āpoison.ā
Scott explained that his decision to stop drinking happened gradually. āI stopped drinking, like, 12 years ago,ā he said on the podcast. āAnd it wasnāt like a thing ā I was never a big drinker. I just kind of faded it out.ā
So, there was no dramatic sobriety announcement or elaborate farewell to happy hour. Adam Scott simply decided alcohol no longer needed a place in his routine.

The Emmy-nominated actor and producer has remained busy despite his quiet lifestyle. He continued earning acclaim for his role in Severance, years after becoming a fan favorite on Parks and Recreation.
Scottās revelation also arrived as other stars discussed changing relationships with alcohol. Anna Faris recently opened up about her own experience during an appearance on Chelsea Handlerās Dear Chelsea podcast.
āOne of the many gifts!ā Faris said of sobriety. She explained that alcohol and depression appeared connected in her own life.
āThereās a correlation between drinking and depression for me, for sure,ā Faris said. āI had to take a step back and not self-sabotage.ā
Chelsea agreed that drinking could feel different with age. āItās not the same. It doesnāt have the same effect, impact,ā she said. The comedian added that she no longer drank like she once did.
Faris also credited starting a hormone patch with making āa huge differenceā for her. Meanwhile, Scottās approach remained beautifully simple: no smoking, no drinking, and no fuss about either.Originally reported by Vanshika Vasundhare Singh for Reality Tea
